Student Competition

The Canadian Makeup Show is extremely excited to announce categories for their 1st annual Vancouver student competition.

All Student Competitions Sponsored By John Casablancas Institute

The four categories are as follows:

   
Category:
Fantasy Runway
Theme:  

Your interpretation of fantasy/fashion makeup influenced by avant-garde runways. Colour and full creative power is encouraged.

  • Both conventional and/or airbrush makeup must be used for this competition.
  • You will be judged on facial makeup only.
  • You are permitted to use accessories such as eyelashes, jewels, etc. to compliment the finished look.

Body Painting / Airbrushing
Theme:   Your interpretation of a futuristic/magical character.

Rules:
 
  • Full body and face painting using the airbrush, brush or sponge.
  • You are permitted to use any tool available to achieve your desired effect, including stencils, rags, latex, etc.
  • Full creative power is encouraged. You will be judged on the complete overall makeup look.
  • You are permitted to use any accessories to compliment the finished look.

Theme:   Your interpretation of the aftermath of a (CSI) Crime Scene Investigation.

Rules:  
  • A minimum of 2 pre-made appliances MUST be used, up to 10 may be used for the overall look.
  • Models must supply their own appliances (gelatin, foam latex, etc..)
  • You are permitted to use other complimentary special effects products or tools (mortician’s wax, latex, silicone, etc.) to complete your character.
  • Special effects props and/or accessories may be used, however only the makeup will be judged.

Competition Rules

  • Competitors may enter more than one category.
  • Competitors may only enter one model per category.
  • Competitors must supply their own model, make-up, supplies and accessories. (See category rules for exceptions.)
  • Competitors must apply all make-up by him/herself.
  • Models must have NO make-up on prior to the beginning of the competition.
  • Model’s hair and wardrobe may be completed in advance of the competition, but note that ONLY make-up will be judged.
  • Competitors may arrive ½ hour before start time to set up their workstation in the competition area.
  • All make-up must be applied in the time allocated for each category. NO additional time will be granted for unfinished work.
  • Competitors and their models must be ready to reveal to the judges at the times specified. If you are not in attendance with your model you WILL be disqualified.
  • ONLY competitors and their models are allowed in the competition area.
  • NO full frontal nudity allowed.   Minimum thong or bikini bottoms required.
